Our History

Our story is one of continuous evolution and adaptation. Founded by Thomas Pittis as an auction house, the business grew organically through the generations. From the early 1800s as Francis Pittis Snr. inherited the mantle, the family name became synonymous with property in the area. By the mid-1800s, Sir Francis Pittis, grandson of Thomas, ascended to become the island's preeminent property auctioneer and a figure of significant local standing, serving as Mayor of Newport eight times. The business continued to evolve, rebranding as Sir Francis Pittis & Son in the early 1900s, poised to mark its next stage of growth.

In 1981, Paul Rooney, our founder, embarked on his own journey in the estate agency world, establishing Rooney & Co. He quickly built a reputation for delivering a premium service that catered to a diverse range of clients and budgets. Five years later, Paul Rooney acquired Prudential Property, paving the way for the modern Pittis that we know and admire today.
