In the 1960s, Ivor Spiro and Cyril Dennis joined forces with Martin Garrard to establish Dennis Garrard Spiro estate agency in East London. This foundation of collaboration and expertise laid the groundwork for the agency's future success.

Throughout the decades, Douglas Allen has evolved and expanded its services. In the 1970s, Martin Garrard ventured out to establish his own agency in North London. Meanwhile, Ivor and Cyril acquired the established Douglas Allen agency in Gants Hill, building a strong presence in the local market. The agency experienced further growth when Ivor Spiro bought out Cyril Dennis in 1979.
